Maumelle Branch Library In January 1980 five Maumelle ladies volunteered to work with CALS and the Maumelle Residents Association to open a library in the Maumelle Community Center. Community volunteers manned that library for eight years. When Maumelle incorporated in 1985, the newly elected officials and CALS pledged to work together to build a permanent library in the city. In 1992 the Maumelle Friends of the Library was formed and worked for the passage of Amendment 3, which paved the way for the new library. The Maumelle voters overwhelmingly approved a million-dollar bond issue in July 1993. The new 9000 square foot library opened in February 1996. The Maumelle Public Library is a beautiful facility constructed of native Arkansas stone situated in the heart of Maumelle on Lake Valencia.
